Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Can't believe it's already that time again. Is it me, or did this week just fly by? We had a jam packed week. So many things to do...and literally, so little time to do it all!

So I'm linking up with Andrea, for this week's Friday Favorites. Most of which, revolve around going to the State Fair. Which is ALWAYS a favorite of my family!

 1. Fall Hats! The temps, are slowly coming down. The mornings are crisp. And I know...Fall is just around the corner! So I've been working on hats for our shop. It's something I hadn't done in a while. And we were in desperate need, of cute hats. Animals hats are one of our biggest sellers.

But more specific, I've been in love with the Fall hats. I've made pumpkins, apples, and this little candy corn. I have plans for witches, Frankenstein, ghost, spiders, and turkeys!

Yup, they are just fun. And all week, I've been making beanies. I'm hoping to sit down today, and sew on their little faces. They are absolutely precious! Last week, I made about 10. This week, I should have another 10.

 2. Mason Jar Flowers! Our Growers' Market neighbors came back this week. It was so nice to see them. Tita and her mom are the sweetest. And they make the most precious flower arrangements. I swear, if I ever get married...or have a Baby Shower, I'm using Mason Jar Flowers. :)

My Momma and I were talking. About how close we all get. At the Market. We really do become, a little family. And it truly is, one of the best things! When you don't see each other...you really do miss one another.

What are we going to do when the season ends? I say this, knowing we have just over a month left. Essentially, we've spent the last 5 months with everyone. It's going to make for a long "Off Season."

 3. Avalos Wedding. My cousins have been married for a handful of years. And on Saturday, they were married by the Church. We missed the ceremony, because we were at the Growers' Market. And because the wedding was about a 30 minute drive. The reception, followed. In a neighboring town, like 4 hours later.

Due to my Momma's health, we decided to stay in town. Until the dinner. Which worked out well. My Momma wasn't feeling too great that day. And maybe not everyone understood...it was just what we needed to do.

I took a bunch of pictures. And videos. So did one of my cousins. But I wasn't able to grab one off of Facebook or Instagram. Isn't that crazy? So I found this picture. From a few years back...during the Dia de los Muertos Parade.

 4. Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque. We went to the State Fair on Sunday. It was one of those "touch and go" kind of days. While we didn't stay at the wedding really late, the night before, we were exhausted! And ended up sleeping until just after 9AM. There was a mad dash, to shower and get to Church.

Then we weren't sure what we were going to do. Originally we had planned for a day at the Fair. But my Momma was tired. So we relaxed at home. Until my Mom realized our Car Club was at the Fair. We made a mad dash, and managed to get there...about an hour before they left. It was really nice to catch up with everyone. To see the cars. And the smiling faces.

My Mom and I are always wanting to become more involved in our Car Club. But there just doesn't seem to be enough time. Hopefully, when the Growers' Market Season ends...we'll make some time. I'm ready for some more driving lessons!

 5. Leather Art. After we left the Tin Lizzies, we decided to walk around. To make it easier for my Momma, I took the wheelchair. So she could just enjoy herself. We headed to the Hobby Building. One of her favorites! And we probably spent, about 2 hours in there!

We looked at so many things. Got invited to join our local Crochet Guild. Looked at Coin Collections, like my Dad's. My Mom was interested in some beautiful furniture, that had been handmade. And then, I turned around and saw this piece.

Gorgeous! Made all out of leather. I'm still not sure, why it didn't win a ribbon. Because it really was beautiful. All the counties, had some sort of picture. Something relative, to the county. Loved it!

 6.  Asbury Pie! And in true fashion of my family...there was pie! Asbury pie to be exact! It has become a "Family Tradition" of sorts. My parents, started going to the Asbury Cafe, when they first started dating. They would share a piece of pie and ice cream.

From then on, every year that we've gone to the Fair, we get pie. Pie and ice cream! Yum! This year, I got a piece of raspberry peach. It was delicious! And it was nice, to sit and chat with my Momma. Eating our pie. Watching all the people walk around.

Most of all, thinking of my Dad. We both still miss him...so very much! And it's little things like this, that make our hearts sing. When you can remember him, being so happy! We finished our day...listening to music in the Spanish Village. Our friends to be exact. Laughing at all the crazy people. And 5 hours later, we headed home!

 7. That Face! Oh my goodness! This pup, makes her Momma's heart sing! Earlier this week, we were sitting on the couch. And she was just looking up at me. All innocent. Wanting some love and attention.

She LOVES to be read to. And for me to talk to her. Even sing to her. The whole time, that little head of hers...moves back and forth. Like a toy! And my heart melts! Who couldn't love this precious babe!

I've been questioning myself...why I didn't get 2. You know, when I got Belle. But I do plan, on getting another puppy like her...later this Fall. Another girl. I just have to dig out the phone number. And hope the people still have pups!

 8. Fall Magazines. I started getting Fall magazines this week. What a happy surprise, in the mailbox! As much as I LOVE Spring...it's my favorite time of year, I just adore Fall!

Something about the smells, the change of weather, the comfort. When the green chili starts roasting, I start smiling. I know the seasons are about to change! I start thinking of Fall decor. Yummy candles. All the things I can bake. The soups. And the sweaters!

Can you tell how excited I am? Oh, and my 2 favorite holidays are in Fall. Halloween and Thanksgiving! Y'all, I'm trying to contain myself! I don't want my Mom to freak out, when I drag out all the Fall decorations. And the one morning, when she wakes up to 10 candles burning. Because I might have already come home, with some mums!

 9. Lunch Dates with my Momma. It's been a while, since my Mom and I have been to the Casino. For lunch. And we were thinking about it last week. So we made a plan. And although the week had been busy, we were sticking to our plans. Because we thought, we were going to have a crazier week. A friend of ours, was supposed to go out of town. And we were going to help his girls, sell his produce all week. Those plans changed...more on that later.

On Tuesday, we decided to go have some lunch. I charged up all my electronics. And decided I get some work done. While my Momma gambled a bit. She had some free play. Then we sat down, to a late lunch.

Yum! That's all I can say. From the salad and soup...to the prime rib. It was all so good! We ate incredibly slow. And just enjoyed it. Talking. Really catching up. Although we live together...and spend so much time together, sometimes we just don't get to really talk.

Tuesday, we did just that. We went over schedules. Shows we'll be doing this Holiday Season. We talked about her going to Washington DC. Made plans for Thanksgiving...that just might include a stay at a hotel. And dinner already cooked. Because really, who wants to cook for 2?

We talked about our pups, family, and plans for the winter. It was just nice, to chat. We even looked up some projects, that we want to tackle. And I may have mentioned, a Part-Time job. I was supposed to be working for another friend this week, but that didn't work out. And I'm thinking a night time job, would be a good fit.

10. Wise Words. And like every other time, we got Fortune Cookies. And this was my fortune. Wise words, don't you think? My Mom's wasn't quite so good.

I wish I could scream this, from the rooftops. Maybe print it on T-shirts. At least I could post it on Instagram and the 'ol blog. But really, these are words to live by.

And I wish some people, would just get it. Give. Just a little. Everyone, has something to give. And in light, of the recent hurricanes and earthquake...we should see the need for giving.

11. What's in Your Bag? These posts are truly my favorite! Maybe I'm just nosy as heck! But I LOVE to read these kind of posts. Watching Youtube videos, of the same subject...just might be my favorite thing ever!

In case you missed my post, you can find it here. And you can find the link up here. I might have spend, 2 hours reading a bunch of new blogs. And looking into people's bags. No lie!

Then I might have spent another 2 hours, watching YouTube videos. Am I the only one? I think I just might be nosy.

12. Jamaica Tea. This just might be my favorite...from the week! Might as well, put the heart eyed emoji over my face. That is how I feel about Jamaica tea. Also known as, hibiscus tea.

When I went to college, I was introduced to it. My teacher/friend/away from home Dad would bring me a cup. Once a week. By the end of my freshmen year, I was addicted to this stuff!

So before breaking for the Summer, he gave me a bag. By the end of June, I was calling him. To find out, where I could buy it. Mind you, we were probably on day 30...of triple digit weather! And I had no AC.

I drank it all the time. And G, got me so spoiled! I add nothing to it. It needs, absolutely, nothing in it. I tried it once, with honey. But honestly, prefer it plain. No sugar. Nothing.

When I moved back to my hometown, I might have brought 5 bags. And as my stock, started to diminish, I went looking for it. May have called, 5 of my friends from Mexico. A handful of musicians. And about 10 Mexican Grocery stores. But I found it!

And honestly, never looked back. Until, recently. When I went to buy some more. That store, about a year ago...changed names. And now, I can't find it. I happened to mention it to my friend Tino. Who makes aguas frescas.

The Watermelon Hibiscus, just happens to be my favorite. And he told me to try a particular store. This was on Saturday. When he told us, he'd be out of town for a week. And could we help out his girls, at their various stands. Sure. We made plans. And told him to have fun, in Vegas.

So Wednesday, when we pulled into the VA, and saw Tino...we were shocked! His plans changed. And he wasn't going on his trip. Good and bad. I felt bad, because he was looking forward to his trip. But good, because we would get to hangout all week.

Bonus, this bag of Jamaica tea! I might have skipped to my car. And the moment we got home, made a big 'ol cup. That was after lunch, with Tino, his girls, and my Momma. They really feel like family. I'm so grateful to God, that he sent these amazing people, into our lives!

13. Gold Jewelry. I don't wear a lot of gold jewelry. Who the heck are we kidding, I don't wear a lot of jewelry anymore. There was once a time, when I cared about such things. You know, full face of makeup. Hair perfectly straight, with the slightest of curl, at the bottom. My clothes, were well thought out. I ALWAYS wore high heels. And jewelry.

Then my Dad got sick. And I became a caregiver. And my priorities changed. Wednesday morning, I just felt like putting a little extra...into my appearance. Earrings and ring. A nicer top than usual. Jeans...because I live in leggings and sweatpants! My favorite boots. Heck, I even shocked myself! Lipstick and mascara. Eyelashes curled, and everything!

It was just a nice change of pace. Honestly, I've been wearing a little bit more makeup this week. But it's felt nice. I may have also, straightened my hair twice. In one week! I know, it's probably going to snow. But maybe, that old spark is coming back...

14. Asian Salad. On Wednesday, I wasn't feeling the best. I didn't sleep the entire night before. And I really, was thinking of staying home from the Growers' Market. But I had told Tino, I'd help at his stand. He was supposed to be leaving on his trip.

Once we got to the Market, and realized he would be there all day...all I could think of, was a nap. I wasn't feeling good. My back hurt. I'd had about 30 minutes of sleep. And I hadn't eaten a thing! It was going to be a long day!

And although I enjoy the company, of the VA Growers' Market...I wanted to be home. We still managed to have a good time. Briana was there. Which meant, I didn't have to help as much as normal. And the Market was incredibly slow!

So when the mention of going out to lunch started, I silently hoped, they wouldn't notice...if we went home. We packed up. Chatted with friends. Then I got trapped in, and had to wait it out in the car. But when our friends came to invite us to lunch...I couldn't say no.

We went out, to Saggio's. First time for us. And honestly, I'm glad we went. After my Hanger, was taken care of...I felt better. And we enjoyed lunch. The portions were HUGE! And since I was in a serious state of Hanger...and pain, I forgot to take pre-meal pictures. Bad blogger here!

My Mom and I, each got a piece of pepperoni mushroom pizza. It was so good! I even managed to get a bubble piece. Those are my favorite! And we split an Asian salad. That was gigantic! But boy 'o boy, it was delish!

After lunch, we headed home. The minute I hit the couch...I was out! I think I slept for about 6 hours. Maybe longer. I was in a food coma, hurting, and way past exhausted. When I woke up, my Mom was asleep. The pups were with her. And I was starving. I hit the fridge, and found the rest of our salad. And about a third of my pizza. Dinner at 11PM? Yes!

I keep thinking of that salad! In fact, I finished it off for breakfast yesterday. It was that good. And then I took to Google, to look for a good dressing recipe. Because I want to make a big salad for me!

And Saggio's...it was super yummy! I keep thinking to myself, when can we go back. I want to try another salad. I guess that is what happens, when you go to college in another city. You don't know about all these places.

15. Strawberry Bars. Heck ya! Give them all to me. I used to eat these. A while back. And then, I sort of forgot about them. It was one of those things, I used to buy for my Dad. He really enjoyed them.

The other night, I was watching a YouTube video...where they mentioned these strawberry bars. So I bought some. They sat in the freezer, for over a week. And yesterday, while I was putting our freezer packs, in the freezer...I saw them. I literally, stopped everything. To sit down and have one.

Oh my Heaven! It was so yummy! I might not be able to share...with anyone. While the pups, had a bone. They kept coming over to me. They wanted some. Those crazy dogs! After I ate it. I let them both, take a couple of licks...of the stick. These are just too good to share!

That's it for this week. We have a busy day ahead. Finishing up some orders for tomorrow. And some other items, we have planned. Maybe an afternoon at the Fair. And tomorrow...we have the Downtown Grower's Market. Maybe a Crochet Guild meeting.

Sunday...another afternoon at the Fair. Since we didn't go last night. I managed to buy a pack of tickets...in June. 4 for $12? And they give you 2 more, for free. To be honest, I almost sold them. Because I was supposed to work at a booth, with some friends. At the Fair! It didn't work out...and it might be a good thing. My Mom gets to enjoy some more time at the Fair. Happy Friday!

XOXO,
Desiree
